Road Cycling

We have road programs based in both London and Waterloo. Each week youth learn the skills needed to safely handle a bike and the etiquette required to ride in a group. Once a week or more, we take to the roads for an endurance ride to practice these skills and improve fitness. The ultimate goal is to develop team members with the handling skills and endurance to safely and successfully compete in road races, time trials, and criteriums.

In the spring and summer, the team uses the Forest City Velodrome as our London headquarters. Road rides learn from the track and work on skills at loops near the track. When the weather isn't conducive to riding outside, the team takes to the track to work on track skills. There is one of the unique things about our team in that we have our own velodrome to train on. Road and track programs go hand and hand at the FCV.

The KW Cycling Academy is the Waterloo headquarters of the team. During the summer months, the team goes over to Waterloo Park to do laps and over the University of Waterloo parking lot to work on skills. Road rides leave from the studio and head out of town to quiet roads of the north Waterloo area. New this year to the KW Cycling Academy are learn to race skills in a loop in north Waterloo. During the winter months, the team trains indoors on computrainers using hard workouts to challenge the team. Indoor computrainer racing is also experienced to keep the team sharp.
